al.com interview about Sweet Charity
AL.com posted an interview with Darien covering the upcoming production of Sweet Charity with Red Mountain Theatre Company.
Asked about her favorite past role:
This is always a tough one. I’ve narrowed it down it two. Last summer I got to play “Annie Sullivan” in The Miracle Worker, and if you have not read the play or seen the black-and-white film version with Anne Bancroft (don’t watch the remake), please do so! It is such a touching story (emotionally … and well, literally. Buh-dum-ching.) I was blessed to be a part of such a heart-felt production. And, being in Alabama, I hope to stop and see the Keller house in Tuscumbia on my way home!
Another favorite show I’ve done is The Pajama Game at Wright State University. I had the honor of performing Fosse’s iconic “Steam Heat” number – something I would never, ever get sick of! I’m thrilled to be revisiting Fosse’s world in Sweet Charity once again!
